Can I use Ubuntu on my Toshiba satellite c655 and, if so, should I use 32bit or 64bit, since it is a 64bit processor?

John,

I don't mean to be rude, but if you need to ask if you should use 32 or 64 bit - then the answer is, use 32bit. The download site doesn't recommend 64bit for daily desktop usage (it requires more configuration/troubleshooting then the 32bit version).

Best of luck whichever you choose,
George

Thank you for the answers. This is new to me so I want to do what's best as I learn the system. I have 2GB RAM, it's a cheap computor but I would like to get away from MS. Can I load the 32bit version on a 64bit system?

Hi John,
If you have 2GB RAM then it is better to install the 32 bit version, the processor will handle it fine.
