Ubuntu freezes on primary install reboot

I downloaded Ubuntu 10.4 LTS and burned to a CD. As i reboot it begins to load the disc. The purple screen comes up and then disappears, Then another purple screen appears with Ubuntu and several scrolling dots. It sets there for about minute with the dots scrolling then the screen goes black and everything stops.
