Problem installing Pinnacle Stusio V10.1.0.2135 for 500 USB video device

Asked by Robert Craig III

Being sick and tired of Windows I installed Ubuntu and have been pretty happy with the platform since.
However, there are some Windows platform hardware I still use. One such system is the Pinnacle 500 USB(Pinnacle System GmbH , 500 USB, S/N: 203560845154304080).
The external device has S-Video input connector and stereo A/V input connectors with DV output and a USB output. I use the USB ports and currently using the stereo AV input due to the age of the camcorder I use to copy home movies to DVD's.
Pinnacle has an excellent editing software with special effects that are hard to find in the Free-ware versions.
Every Ubuntu platform recorder I have tried does not recognize the input signal from the USB port.
When I tried to install the Pinnacle software I get errors that the data is not compressed or in the zip format expected.
I have three disk. The first two disk are installation disk for the basic system, the third disk has bonus programs and editing features, one which was provided free of charge and several others I can pay for if I want to use them.
Unfortunately using Windows the program is such an memory hog is literately shuts down Windows (Blue Screen of Death) when I edit movies longer than fifteen minutes.
Blue screens are one reason I switched to Ubuntu, I have not experienced crashes and lock-ups since using Ubuntu.
If there is any way I can install Pinnacle Software on the Ubuntu platform it would be a life saver (40 more home videos to edit and convert to DVD or Flash Drives).

Equipment used:
Home built Desk top system using BIOSTAR M4 board w/single SATA HD, (intend to purchase a separate smaller SATA drive to substitute for extended memory while editing movies)
Magnavox 8:1 Power Zoom, model:CVM310AV01 Video Recorder (nick named the "Beast")
Operating System: Ubuntu, Lucid

No standards provided on the box.
No technical data provided with the user information documentation I still have.
Give me some help, I am a novice or at least I consider myself a novice since everything I know about computers has been self taught.
There are a lot of terminology I have no idea about. Just KISS for me.
I'll do my best to keep pace.

I am, I asked you for an output of a command.

Press CTRL+ALT+T
paste the command to the terminal
press enter
copy the output and paste it here

simple. I did "give you some help" as I need the output of the command to continue. As for "standards", Linux adheres absolutely 100% to standards rather than Microsoft whom choose to follow them until it suits them, then they drift off.

The output will allow us to find guides. To get your device operational. Stay focused.

Can you help with this problem?
