Able to hear the start up sound, but after logging in, sound not works

I've just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04.
Am able to hear log-in sound but after getting logged-in, i cant able to hear musics.
Please give me any solutions.

First make sure to log in as a normal user, not as the root user.

Then please execute step 1 and step 2, then reboot and send us the full terminal output from step 3 and step 4 from this procedure:

Is the volume turned off on the icon at the top of the screen?It should open and you have a slider bar to adjust.
