Install issue

Asked by Dustin Knittel

I just install Ubuntu alongside with Windows XP on my desktop. The installition went fine, however I restarted my computer and now I get a window when I start Ubuntu. It reads " There is a problem with configuration server (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)." Ubuntu will not load the desktop. Please help. If need more info ask. I thank you in advanced for your time in this issue.

Boot to root recovery mode and run:

chmod 1777 /tmp

Should make it ok.

How exactly should I type this on the console screen. Everything I have tried says the file does not exist.
