Hello,
if you left-click on the network applet you should become a menu with the option to manual configure your network.
Hope that helps.

You will enter the username and password into the modem itself. There should be a web interface that you use to configure the modem. It's usually accessed via a web browser by typing in an IP address. For example - 192.168.0.1. Yours may be different. Once you now how to access the modem's set up you should be able to enter the username and password info. You wouldn't use a dialer for a broadband connection - just dial up.

Hello,
probably you are not allowed to configure the modem directly. Have you ask your ISP for advice? He should be able to tell you the required information to configure the modem.

Thanks everyone for answering my question. I set up my connection correctly. My ISP had given me a cd containing dialer for Linux.I installed the dialer and configured it correctly.but i have to say that such a task(for e.g. configuring net access) still give a bit geeky feel. support from community in such a scenario is very important for any newbie.
