frozen startup in ubuntu 10.04

Hi,
I just installed ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop (already on laptop) an HP but when it startup the login window shows for about 2 seconds, everything works here, then it hides and ubuntu logo shows... no mouse movement and no keyboard works.

Recovery Mode doesn't work.

How can I fix it?

Well I click Ctrl+Alt about 5 times while booting computer. Don't know why but now it works.
