ubuntu 10.10 alpha 3 will not boot

install 10.10 with 9.10 . ; after install of 10.10 got all set up did updates then tried to reboot and it would not . did a search for 10.10 how to repair grub , found a page on fix/repair grub boot loader . tried it but just would not work so here i am . what do i need to do to fix this ?

after selecting 10.10 it goes to the ubuntu emblem with the dots under it ,the dots go from white to red and stay red . i let set this way for 10 mim. but does nothing .

Ok then remove the boot options to show the splash so you can watch the boot.

Did you upgrade from 9.10 to 10.10 directly??

so you upraded from 9.10 to 10.04, then 10.04 to 10.10. The fact you have a dual boot is of no interest to the situation.

first i had 9.10 installed . i got to looking at 10.10 found it`s at alpha 3 so i downloaded it then installed in a dual boot .

Ok so its a clean install. You can remove boot options so you can watch the boot rather than the dumb splash screen hiding the useful information.

run out of ink for printer . so how do i upgrade 10.04 to 10.10 .
 alt-f2 gconfig editor then add what ?
