Files are not getting saved after reboot

I installed ubuntu to practice shell scripting.

After i write any script and saving the file, its doesn't exist after the next reboot.

This might seem like a silly question, but are you sure that you installed Ubuntu? That you aren't just using it as a live CD? Because the live CD won't save any files.

What sort of install are you booting to?? Is the system installed to an internal drive? Is it in stalled to USB? Did you transfer the OS to a USB to then boot from that?

Thanks all... As Iam using live CD without installing, this problem is happening as suggested by Stewart.
