switching betwwen gnome & kde desktops

Asked by Francisco Trinidad

I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 and after reading The Official Ubuntu Book, I installed the Kubuntu-Desktop Package, after that, many kde programs appear in my Main menu and works fine, but my desktop still is gnome. How can I switch between gnome and kde desktops?
Thanks
Francisco Trinidad

Francisco,

After installing the KDE desktop, reboot the system, then at the log-in screen, click "select Session".

There you can select which desktop you want to use, or other modes like fail-safe.

You'll be asked if you want to make KDE your default desktop or not, choice is yours.

Another way to Switch:

In a terminal type: sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm

Use the Up/Down arrows to select, then TAB to select OK.

You select the desktop after clicking your user name, look at the very bottom of the page.

You can install as many desktops as you wish. There are more then just KDE and Gnome.

Can you help with this problem?
