.tar.gz install in 10.04

Asked by Altomm09

I have downloaded the tivo decoder from sourceforge. Where do I unpack it? Should I go ahead and make my own directory for it? And do I need to have the files for decoding in that directory? And should I be in that directory to execute?

I am new to terminal so I figure this will help me figure out how to use ubuntu and all the features of Linux.

Thanks

you can decompress it with:

tar zxvf filename

This will then give you a folder, you can then enter the folder and work from there.

Can you help with this problem?
