New updates only see one core of 2 core cpu

Asked by M Wyckoff

lshw -C cpu shows core 2 disabled. This just started when I ran the update manager. Also Virtual Box crashes within a few minutes of starting up.

Whatever it was, it went away with several more reboots, and several more power downs. I'm not sure what fixed it, but maybe all the poking and prodding that I did flopped a flipped bit. Anyway, all is good for now.
