Ubuntu User manual

I am looking for a Ubuntu User Manual so that I can do things like locate my Ruby, qt4-qtruby, ldap ruby directories, be able to navigate the directory structure, etc. I know that navigating the directories is straightforward Linux. I was just new to KDE desktop. Could I familiaize myself with a user manual or a tuturial? many thanks
