I need to have my web cam working on this new program ububtu, how do I connect my web cam to ubuntu

I can look it up and help walk you through it.
Im shaky with linux though havent used it much but im good at entering commands
following directions for them.....

What webcam are you trying to use?
What software are you attempting to view the picture in?
Most of the common cams are detected automatically and the "drivers" are loaded for the cam. If this is the case with yours, then it is just a case of using a suitable program to view the image (e.g Cheese or Camorama for example). I would try getting the cam showing on something like the programs I mentioned before trying an instant message type web conference - they can be a little more involved to set up.
