Ubuntu 7.04 server

Asked by NicoleJackson

Hi,

I'm installing Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (Ubuntu 7.04) server version and I'd like to install the GUI interface for it, I didn't realize that it did not install with one.

I've found the apt-get install ubuntu-desktop command but it doesn't seem to install properly.

Should I include sudo in for od the command?

Is it possible to get the UGI and desktop for the server version?

Also as part of the install that seems to be ok then falls flat on reboot, it saks what resolution to use. In this section am I removing the ones I don't want or marking the ones I want to keep?

I hope you can help,

Nicole

Hello NicoleJackson,

Yes you should use sudo when installing packages.

Try "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" and you should get the gnome desktop installed. :)

Try selecting the default resolution when the video question pops up.

Hi,

Sorry I can't help you, I ended up just using the command line for the
server edition.

I'm pretty new to Ubuntu too.
