Hello,

to convert rpm packages to deb use alien. You can install alien via synaptic package manager and the open a shell and enter alien packagename.rpm. You will find further information here[1]. To change the look into a mac like use some gadgets like gdesklets[2] or the avant window navigator [3]

Hello gaurab.

Please see the following link for your first question:
http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2005/06/convert-between-rpm-deb-and-tgz.html

For your second question please follow these instuctions:
1. Make sure you have installed the 3d drivers for your video card (Ati/Nvidia). To do this go to System --> Administration --> Restricted Drivers Manager and enable the checkbox next to the available drivers for your system. Then, restart your system and make sure they work ok.
2. Go to System --> Preferences --> Desktop Effects and enable the option for 3d effects and checkboxes. This will enable the use of Compiz for your machine. That's all.
By the way, in you want something more "extreme" you might want to install Beryl.
Type in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install beryl beryl-manager emerald-themes
Then you can configure Beryl by going to Applications --> System Tools --> Beryl Manager.
You can also make Beryl Manager start every time your computer starts by adding the "beryl-manager" in your Sessions.

Have a nice day.
