Playing Dvd

Can anyone help with playing Dvds
I have read lots of stuff on this problem but still no joy!
Running 6.06 LTS

I now have 3 dvd players Totem Movie Player,gxine and Vlc media player.
The Totem which i have installed the following packages
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
libdvdread3
And get this error

"Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because you do not have the appropriate plugins to handle it."

Gxine just plays the intro
and lastly Vlc media player just hangs
Please dumb down any reply as i am very new to this.

Hi, maybe you should install Automatix to get the plugins? I dont know any other way.

Thanks for that but i just solved it.

libdvdread3 did not activate correctly in was missing the following
fakeroot
debhelper
It told me all along but i didnt see it!

Start by installing the
following
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
libdvdread3
Then activate libdvdread by copy the following in the terminal
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh
