Problems with Live CD Ubuntu 7.04. Please Help

Asked by Artem Semenkov

Excuse me, that I disturb you. I decided to set Ubuntu 7.04 on the notebook.

Notebook Toshiba Satellite M100-222

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 ГГц (4 MB), 14.1"(1280 x 768), ATI Radeon X1400, RAM 1 GB, HDD 100 GB (5400), DVD-RW DL, WiFi

I made an effort load Live CD and 7.04 version of Ubuntu was not loaded, the unread characters and dark blue background appeared on the screen.

But, to this Live CD Ubuntu 6.04 loaded and worked without problems.

I don’t know what to do. Whether it needs me to install Ubuntu 7.04, if Live CD is not started even? Probably such problem will be and since I will install Ubuntu 7.04?

Help please to decide my problem, it is very desirable to install itself the new operating system, and to forget about Windows XP.

Hi, it appears to be a problem with your X server configuration. Probably a failure on ubuntu's part to correctly identify your hardware. Can you send me your system specs, including your graphics card.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba A215-S4747. It has an ATI Radeon X1200. I had the same problem as you. Are you using the 64 bits version of Ubuntu or the 32 bits one?

You could try one of this two options:

If you're installing the 64bits one this is what I did:

If you're installing the 32bits one this is what another guy did:

I don't know if it'll be helpful to you... good luck!!!

Hi,
I heve FSC Xi1546 16:10 notebook. After starting Live CD I have problem with X server - graphical interface. The graphic card is Mobility Radeon X1800. I know there is a big problem also for ATI XP drivers under Windows, because last week I downloded the latest version from ATI site and after installing it I crashed the sistem. May be there is a problem with ATI card or wide screen format (screen resolution 1440x900)?

Can you help with this problem?
