k10temp error 10.04 after update

Asked by Daf Hobson

I have AMD Phenom ii x6 1090T Ubuntu 10.04.
I have installed k10temp according to the post at... http://swiss.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8406822 ....
It works with the old four core processor but shows only four of the six cores of the current Phenom x6

This eve 2200 25 July after nightly update (no other work on machine - turned on just to update) I now have a message box on screen flashing which i cannot get rid of saying:-

Error Updating sensor temp1
An error occurred while trying to
update the value of the sensor temp1
located at sensor://k10temp-pci-00c3/0

i have commented out k10temp in etc/modules and restarted.
The whole sensor bar is still present together with the flashing black box on screen showing error message.

I'm not savvy enough to know whether this came as a result of the nightly update.

can anyone tell me how to
A/ disable k10temp
AND/OR
B/ preferably solve the problem and close the error message.

many thanks
Daf

I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't got a clue how to - not being a savvy engineer

Boot to an earlier version before the update. this may remove the error. Then Look at the sys and boot logs.
Do this on a cold boot to rule out a high temp reading in the bios.

in a terminal (Press CTRL+ALT+T to run one) run:

ubuntu-bug linux-image

Should do it.

Tried those. They returned no answers at all.....

I have un instaled sensors applet using synaptic.
So for the moment its gone away until I can look at it again.

Thanks for your response.
