Bootmanager BootitNG V. 1.61d and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS fight each other?

Asked by glowcake

Is there a way to avoid that the Ubuntu 6.06 GRUB overwrites the BootitNG Bootmanager data?
I heard that it should be possible with Ubuntu 7.04 to do an advanced install and install GRUB to the native Linux partition where Ubuntu sits, instead of to the Bootit Bootmanager.

Thanks

Hello,

Yes, that is correct. Just install using the ALTERNATE ubuntu distro; toward the end of install process it'll give you the choice (pls watch for it) of selecting where you'd like the boot to be written to -either MBR or partition. The default is MBR. Hope this helps.
