Non-bootable install

Asked by Phil Medes

I have received Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) on a DVD-ROM. However,
since I don't have a bootable DVD-ROM drive (mine is an external USB),
I would like to know the easiest way for me to install Ubuntu, hopefully from the DVD I already have. I've already tried instlinux and it didn't work for me.

Try sbminst ( http://btmgr.webframe.org/index.php3?body=download.html )
It creates a boot diskette. Boot from it and then it will let you select the device you want to boot from. It it recognices your usb drive, you will boot the ubuntu dvd.
Good Luck
