Ctrl + ALT + L Keyboard shortcut does not lock desktop

Asked by Neville Makopo

Checked other questions and not sure if this is a bug or known issue.
From System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts I have setup Ctrl + ALT + L to lock my desktop.
However, this only works if I use the combination Ctrl + alt gr + L ; the "alt" on my left does not work.
Is this behavior correct?
This is on Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 4 on an HP Compaq nc6120 laptop

with thanks

No, the behavior is incorrect. It sounds like a problem with how the keys are mapped on your keyboard. Make sure that you have the right type of keyboard selected under System -> Preferences -> Keyboard. Hope this helps.

Elliot thanks,

I double checked Keyboard preferences and they're set to:
Keyboard model: Generic 105-key (Intl) PC
Layout: U.S. English

I find this weird because, the above setting is the same as in a Feisty laptop (HP Compaq nx6110) and works as expected in Feisty.

thanks
