64-Bit?

Asked by sam-c

This is Maverick.
Does Ubuntu recent Editions automatically detect and use 64-bit Software?
This is a Lenovo Pentium Dual Core Desktop 64-bit.
Until recently I always used 32-Bit?

Yes, Ubuntu will detect if you're installing a 32-bit application on a 64-bit architecture (vice-versa). It will stop the application from installing but you can always force install a 32-bit to a 64-bit.

HTH.
