How to handle/edit soundfont files (.sf2)?

I need to handle and edit some soundfont files (.sf2) to be used with lmms.
I am not able to find any such tool for Lucid.
Is there any hint?

The package that one would use is called Swami, but it's no longer maintained or packaged. There's information in this thread on how to run the last available version on current Ubuntu.
