cannot connect adsl modem

I have a nokia siemens modem(model C2110). Normally i used to connect to internet using the USERNAME and PASSWORD that my ISP (BSNL) provided me.Recently I migrated to ubuntu 10.04 and cannot connect using the network manager.
I could connect smoothly using the same steps in ubuntu 9.04.Also i can connect smoothly from windows 7 which is my other OS.

Please help me.Also I do not know anything about the protocols and stuff! So give me an easy solution.
