Ubuntu 10.04 license information

Asked by Akila Sivakumar

Hi,
Can someone please tell me what license I should refer to for downloading and using Ubuntu 10.04. The information in this page http://www.ubuntu.com/legal talks about GPL but does not say which version. I need this information for the legal team to review the license before I can download and use it.

Thanks,
Akila

Hi,
Thanks for the response, is GPL v3 still work in progress? I searched a bit and found this: https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/installation-guide/i386/appendix-gpl.html , looks like 10.04 is under GPL v2.

Thanks,
Akila

The above link given by actionparsnip is a April fools' joke. PLEASE disregard it.

I don't think Ubuntu itself has a specific license, it's the actual software that is shipped with it that is licensed, and you have to check the license included in each program to know what license it is exactly.
You can download the source code (along with their license) of all the software shipped with it at http://archive.ubuntu.com/

Can you help with this problem?
