Does it take a long time to install? Do i have to erase or farmat the c: b4 i install??

I put the disk in and it is going all by itself slowly.
i am putting ubuntu on a laptop that i use just for browsing in hopes that it will speed up as it is an old laptop.

is ubuntu going to make the difference? i saw it on tv.

Hi Ron.Harvie,
The LiveCD is slow to boot. Note that it needs at least 256 MB of RAM.

When you Install Ubuntu, you can choose :
Format the disk, erase Windows and have only Ubuntu on your computer
Resize the Windows partition and install Ubuntu next to Windows. If you do so you will be asked at boot if you want to run Windows or Ubuntu.
