downloaded and installed above package...but how do I access it and get it to run?

in a terminal type:

av

then press tab a few times to see what is output. This should give clues (launch the app from an ALT+F@ dialogue as the terminal will NEED to be open for the app to stay running)

It may also just be a process, you can check with:

ps -ef | grep avg

If you see the avg process running then its all working fine.
