Connect to the Internet

How do I connect to the internet using dial-up connection in my Thinkpad modem? I have already ISP's username and password. but I don't know how to create a connection.

I never connect with Ubuntu to a provider via ppp.... but i think you can use, type it from a terminal:
gnome-network-preferences
gnome-ppp

or access it from System->Administration->Network menu.

Click on System > administration > network

Then select the Modem Connection, click on Properties, activate the connection and enter the informations given by your ISP.
