dissappearing "network manager" from taskbar

Asked by Jasmine Maddox

One day I went onto my Netbook computer to try and access the internet, and the "Network Manager" icon had dissappeared from the taskbar. It flashed for a second then was gone. I thought it was weird and just shut off my computer and turned it back on to see if it would work again. THe Icon came back up and I connected to the internet. The next time I turned on my netbook, the problem reoccured. I turned off my laptop and turned it back on but the icon still wasn't present. I tried once more and it finally appeared. Recently i've tried connecting to the internet and no matter how many times I shut down my lap top it won't appear and I don't know any other way to connect otthe internet. Help please?
Sincerely, a girl with her first netbook/laptop who just needs some help
Jasmine

It looks to me there is a bug with the same description

In the discussion of the bug the suggested workaround to restore the NetworkManager applet without reboot will be:

Open terminal
Execute 2 following commands:

sudo killall wpa_supplicant
sudo /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager restart

it seems the only problem is the lack of the NetworkManager icon in the Notification area. To start it manually, press Alt+F2 then run nm-applet. This is not a fix, but a temporary workaround...

Can you help with this problem?
