how do i setup desktop Effects for Ubuntu

Hi can any one help with setting up desktop effects for kde Kubuntu. and how do you palce Icons on the desktop like the file systems or computer so i could see the hard drives in my computer. If anyone could help with this issue i would be grateful. Thank you

What am having a hard time with is how do i get the desktop effect work with kubuntu, I just installed the kubuntu-desktop all is fine in that part but the cube and other effects are not applied here. However when my ubuntu desktop effects work find.. It's only when i swith to log in to Kde the Kubuntu desktop that it's not working i have look every where on it but can't seem to figure it out.. If anyone knows why could u please post it to this . Thank YOU
