Trying to install kubuntu 10.4 32 bit on a IBM

Asked by LawnBoy

I'm at wits end on this:
Processor: AMD-KL-2
Processor: Speed 350 MHz
Level 2 cashe 512 kb, enabled
Vidio Memory: 4096 kb
Floppy A 2.88 mb, 3.5minch
Floppy B None
IDE Primary Channel Master Hard Disk: 8438 mb
IDE Primary Channel Master slave None
IDE Secondary Channel Master CD-Rom
IDE Secondary Channel Master None
Total Memory 64 MB

When I'm trying to install it tell me this:
Kernel panic-Not syncing-out of memory and no killing prossess.

I can log into windows 98 in safe mode..

But when trying to boot in normal it says this C:WINDOWS>

Been trying all day. 2 questions:
1. How do I get past C:WINDOWS> what is the command or how to st it up
so it goes into windows desktop.

How to get the install to work once I'm in there.

If needing more info Let me know what info and I will get it for
you...

This is Lawnboys Father. I'm using my desk for the installing system.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you check the CD for defects once booted to?

Please make sure your system meets the requirements as described on https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/installation-guide/i386/hardware-req.html

I suggest you use Lubuntu on your system. It will crawl with Ubuntu or KUbuntu.
Lubuntu is made for your kind of system and will make it more resposive.
