installed ubuntu karmic koala disabled touchpad

Asked by Kallista Rockne-Semkow

I recently (and finally) upgraded ubuntu, to ubuntu 9.10(?) karmic koala.. i must have made a mistake during the upgrade because now the touchpad on my laptop onto which i have installed ubuntu does not recognize the mouse. i have tried fiddling around in the recovery mode, there were some sites that it gave me to look at, but quite frankly, i'm lazy. please respond, NEED MOUSE!
