Is there a stable version of Ubuntu after 9.04?

Asked by erickskf@comcast.net

When I tried to install Ubuntu 9.10 the system would lock up when I tried to make any move. Same thing with Ubuntu 10.04. I did clean installs on each attempt. Ver 9.04 is the only version I have had success with. There must be a problem with my hardware if others have had success. I'm loading on i386 system 3.46 ghz proc. 800 m FSB 4 ghz RAM One minor distinction, a wireless Logitech mouse but never encountered problems with it in the past.

The EOL is October 2010. So you can keep using it for a few more moths.

Your system specs look good. Do you have another mouse to try?

What video card/chip are you using?

The first step would be to find out whether it's your mouse that stops working or whether your system actually freezes.

Next time it happens, press Alt + F1 to try and open the Applications menu. You could also watch the clock in the corner and see if it ticks over another minute.

it is really surprising ! well, 10 is not ready so every one try without success since few months.
i do not understand, from an 3. ghz and 4go in ram (a monster !), that you cannot obtain a clear and nice 9.1 that i have installed on a usb-key yesterday with a laptop of 2003.
your mouse works with bluetooth - wireless- or need a special driver.
a cd or an.iso can be found (shipit and 'release desktop i386 karmic .iso'), i think you have done
a bad installation, maybe a too short partitionning ...you must not forget that the update for 9.1, it is 297 updates after installation and your machine must be cold.
