Ubuntu in dell Studio XPS Laptop 1340

Asked by Victor Muñoz

Hi!

I have a dell Studio XPS Laptop 1340 with windows 7 installed. I need to install ubuntu because of my job. I tried to make a dual boot, but it didn't work, so I made a format and installed only ubuntu in it. After a couple of week with ubuntu, the motherboard was burned and the informatic said it was because I installed ubuntu, when the laptop was designed to work with Windows only.

I am not very sure if it's true, and I really need ubuntu in the laptop. I have a new one now (warranty), so I need to know, will it breaks if I install ubuntu or the technician was wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Some hardware likes Windows7 but can be possibly made to work.

You may get issues but you won't know until its installed. You can run the live CD to see how it goes.

Can you help with this problem?
