Laptop webcamera configuration

Asked by Madhusudhan Mudalagiri

I am having sony vaio VGN-FZ21Z laptop with me and I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 in it. I am in need of using built in webcamera of my laptop for video conferencing but the ubuntu doesn't seem to be detecting the camera. On searching online for solution,I installed cheese webcam booth for the camera configuration. But even cheese is not detecting my laptop webcamera. It is saying "no device found" Please refer to help documentation. I could not get a work around for this problem. I am new to Ubuntu and I expect kind of step by step solution for this problem. Please help me out.

Your camera should have USB ID

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:183b Ricoh Co., Ltd Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC8 [R5U870]

So try this:

That will install the driver.
