my usb drives do not work on netbook Ubuntu 10.4

I have a wireless mouse that the computer can't find and I have a cricket modem UM185C that has the same problem, when I plug them in nothing happens!!

Pleas Help!!!!

are you sure nothing happens?

please check lsusb and dmesg and report back
and if have a cdrom try booting from a live ubuntu cd to check your hardware

I have a cricket Broadband wireless Internet, when I connect the device nothing shows on the computer, I am especting for the computer to mount like a CD rom drive or something but nothing.. Also I have a wireless USB mouse (Targus) I plug the transmitter and once again it does not get recognize. mouse does not work and nothing happens. *** I am a new user with Ubuntu and this is my learning expireance...***

please do this
open terminal console and write this lsusb enter
report back what that comand reports

I just check the Disk Utility Program and I found the Cricket CD Drive (UM185 CD-ROM) [/DEV/SRO] under the Peripheral Devices.

please give the output of the command
 dmesg and lspci

i suppose you have both the mouse and modem connected when running this commands
