ubuntu install not working

Asked by woody grindle

When I try to install Ubuntu it goes to the start up screen, and then goes to a black screen, and wants me to give it commands, not user friendly. I'm lost. I need help. I even tried a clean install same thing. Not enough info on it . I have tried Ubuntu 9, 10.04, and Linux 8. Linux the black screen flashes it flashes so fast I cant see what it said .

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD slowly?
Did you check the CD for errors?
Have you tested your RAM for issues?

I am not sure what MD5 is. Ram passed no errors, cd has no errors, I burnt the disk at the speed that was suggested by infrarecorder .
