help with installing files

hi, i am still a novice at using ubuntu linux 6.06. I wanted to install some software for my thinkpad by IBM(R50e) but everytime i try using the intalling it, it falls i have tried using the (RUN) and the terminal but i cant seem to figure it out. here are the files i wanted to install fwcd2201.exe and rnr2_patch2051.exe..i will be very greatful for your help. And if i must say, i think ubuntu is the next generation OS if the developer get proper funding.

Those are .exe files, meant for Microsoft Windows. Did you perhaps mean to run them under wine?

hi i am a new user of ubuntu i tried to install the file "RealPlayer10GOLD.bin" but it says could not find the file .... i had downloaded that from real.com and i don't know how to install all other stuffs and how it really works..

chmod +x RealPlayer10GOLD.bin
./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin

I really need help with ubuntu, i am a beginner.

Every time I try to install something or download something I get error messages that sometimes say ( E:dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. )
