10.4 install process fails at 41%

Asked by Garrett Hubbard

Install of 10.4 failes at the 41% mark. Each time the error is telling me that the disc could be bad or needs to be cleaned. I've tried two different disc, different hard drive, different CD ROM, and I've tried installing it from the start and through the trial. Same error every time.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you check the CD for defects?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as you could

DId the first two, didn't change CD burning speed. Do you recommend a burning speed?

As slow as the drive / media combination will allow. 2x if you can. It not only makes a better image on the dye but will reduce problems with jitter.

You should then also boot the CD and press space when the stick man appears then check the CD for defects

Can you help with this problem?
