Problems about how to use Chinese Input and .rmp files

Asked by Dacaop

Hi,
I just install ubuntu, but i'd like to use Chinese input for some reason, what applications should i use?
Or should i download some other software?

Another question is i'd like to install hugs98, but i don't know which version is suitable for ubuntu, and i cannot open .rpm files,

it always says:
<cannot open "hugs98-Feb2000-1.i386.rpm"
the xxx type is not supported >

(sorry, i chose chinese system as default language, the "xxx" might be some kind of .zip/.gzip files, i can't tell what it exactlly is)

please give me some advice, thank you!
cheers,

Tracy~

Regarding your first question:

I have written a small howto for using INdian languages input at http://www.ubuntu-in.org/wiki/XKB_Howto

For Chinese language it should be same. But I don't know where you would find keymaps.

Can you help with this problem?
