GUI Problem

After i enter the password to log into Ubuntu only the login screen backgroung remains and nothing happens then. It just hanged.
I do have KDE and it is working fine. Please tell me how can i solve this problem.

Login to KDE.

in your home folder there will be a hidden folder named
.gnome
.gnome2
.gconf

Delete all these. Try logging in.

If this does not work then, Open kpackage (or synaptic) -search for gnome and then reinstall all the gnome* packages.

reboot.
