Don't have a password after installation of 10.04

Asked by Steve Stuart

I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu 10.04. It tells me my user named, and ask for a password. I don't have one. What should I do?

What password did you give it when you installed? One of the installation steps asks you to enter your Name, your user name, and your password (you have to enter the password twice on that screen).

That's what it's asking for... the password for the username you created when you installed the system.

Hi

When you installed Ubuntu did you use a Cd? The Cd can be used as a bootable Cd to get a working desktop which we call a "LiveCd session"
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

If you need to reset your password then the LiveCd session might be the easiest way to do that

Good luck and regards from

I still can't log on. I'm sorry for the confusion. When i downloaded the desktop program, it did not ask for a password or provide one. It told me to log on as stuart.
