No boot after login

Asked by Mannex

k nxbvxueho/huI was instructed by the fine people at Skype to remove my pulseaudio drivers. I did this, but I apparently removed too much. Now, I get a login screen (no splash at startup), and after logging in, the screen goes black, then returns to the login screen indefinitely. I am able to boot from the install CD, but how do I fix this?

Help! System is down!

Here's how I solved this. I booted from the CD, chose to reinstall, and selected manual partitioning. From there, I selected the main partition, pressed the "Change" button. In that dialog, I selected that it should be mounted at "/" and made sure that the format button was NOT selected. This installed the OS without formatting the drive.

Thanks, guys!
