first off what is an i586 machine ? dell ,hp ,compaq.gateway ??? ubuntu comes in 32 and 64 bit platform . the 32 bit is the most used .

It's an old toshiba laptop with amd cpu Total memory 131072 KB. This machine is from 1999.

the 131072 kb of ram means that it only has around 128 mb of ram ,which means no ubuntu will not run or install . do not know what you can do !
