No, this is not normal.

You can adjust your mouse properties in Preferences > Mouse. In particular, you can change its speed

This is still a problem, I strongly suspect this is under reported because of the EXTREME! difficulty of getting any use out of the thing.
I've got a new computer, dual core, 3Gb ram and logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. The mouse is ridiculously laggy.

Really ridiculously laggy, I have to go into another OS just to get into this forum to point this out. It is not usable...

The same is true for kubuntu, I downloaded both today the 7.10 new releases. 2007-oct-18
It was like this in the betas too.

It may make it much easier to solve if I point out It works fine in the sabayon linux, which I'd prefer to use, if it could install new software without an axe and a welder!
I'm putting this as a new problem with more info as this has been here for a week before release with no attention.

also changing in preference mouse makes no difference, it's not the speed it is lag between the mouse moving and on screen action. Not acceleration either.

Greetings, did you ever solve this? My issue seems to be the same...mouse almost unuseable.

I've tried 5 different types of mouse - including 3 wireless from different manufacturers and they all 'work' but the responsiveness of the pinter is terrible.

I can't get any combination of settings to really make any improvement.

I have the same issue when I used another Linux LiveCD (not Ubuntu) so thinking it may be Kernel related...

I'm using U_8.04

Now I have Ubuntu 9.10 and its working really fine. Though there was a problem in Ubuntu 9.04 about its graphics but now Ubuntu 9.10 runs very smoothly. I think there was some problem in Copy of the OS I got. Each one starting from 7.04 had their own problems but now its really smooth, Ubuntu 9.10 I mean....

Can you help with this problem?
