make ubuntu login work like windows xp for multiple users

Asked by Mathieu

I would like to make login in my desktop similar in functionality to windows xp for multiple users, if possible.
I use gdm and switched theme to have a list of users. I also set the screen saver to lock the screen.
Here are the things i would like to accomplish:
1 - Have the display go to the login window directly when coming out of the screen saver, instead of the 'lock screen' where another user has to click the 'switch user' button to login. => Move the mouse while the screen saver is active would bring me to the login window.
2 - Not having to type the password twice when already logged in. Right now i have to enter my password in the login screen and then enter it again in the lock screen. => When already logged in I would select my user from the login window, enter my password, and go to my session directly (shouldn't logging in to the same session 'unlock' it?).
3 - Have a few users login by just selecting their user, no password. (i know, i know...). => For these users just clicking their user from the login window would start their session automatically.

This is to ease the transition from windows xp to ubuntu for the rest of the family.

Thanks in advance

I assume this means it is not possible to do these things yet.

Thank you for answering and for filing the feature request.
