phpmyadmin running though not configured in apache2/sites-enabled/

Asked by Brian Ealdwine

I've installed phpmyadmin. I'm running apache2. If I go to <hostname>/phpmyadmin, phpmyadmin shows up.

HOW?! hehe.
It's not in any of the apache2 sites-enabled config files, and I am utterly confused as to how to turn it off. I must be missing some obvious piece of information. I've grepped the entire /etc/ directory for phpmyadmin, and the only files that even have "phpmyadmin" in them are outside of the apache2 directory (apache.conf in phpmyadmin). ..does apache2 scan directories in /etc/ for 'apache.conf' files or something?

Have you got a phpmyadmin file/folder in the default site root?

Failing that the mention of apache.conf in /etc/phpmyadmin may give more clues.

duh. I knew it had to be something obvious.. ..yeah, a link was installed to
phpmyadmin in /usr/share. hehe. *sighing at self's lack of observational
capacity* ;-)
