Which Ethernet network card and driver works well in my Ubuntu ?

Which Ethernet network card and driver works well in my Ubuntu 7... ?
Some card who's driver is supported by present kernel v. 2.6.17-10-GENERIC?
Suggestions ?

I have installed Ubuntu Linux to my 5 yrs old PC, which had earlier Windows.
I couldn't compile D-Link 530 TFE 530TX -driver to my new Ubuntu 7
