Ubuntu One will only sync folders, not files

Asked by AdamOutler

I've been asking for tech support in this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1468824&page=6

My problem is that Ubuntu One will not synch files at all. I am on my netbook. I have 500megs online. The directory structures have come through in-tact on my netbook here, but the files will not sync. I have tried everything I can think of. The troubleshooting steps I have taken are documented in the thread mentioned at the top.

Please help!

This is not slow, this is broken. 48 hours passed and I did not get a single file! I have 500 megs and did not receive a single file.

This needs to be addressed as a catastrophic event or a outtage. Not slow.

I've seen slow. Slow is where you have a 2400kbps modem downloading duke nukem part 1. My 2400 bps modem took an hour to download a meg. This is 48 hours and not even a single megabyte. When transfer rates are below any known modem speed, they are essentially null. This is a full outage. I cannot get any files from ubuntu one.

NOT A SINGLE FILE IN 48 HOURS!

I say again... Not a single file.

I reformated my netbook because of this, I assumed there was a problem with my installation from unetbootin, but now I've got the same problem.

OK... I performed the steps above. Keep in mind that this is a fresh installation of Ubuntu Netbook remix. I just reformatted my Ubuntu Desktop edition and installed Netbook.

I tried the steps outlined in the guide a few times. I'm getting all kinds of crazy errors
I don't know what all of this is. I've done everything I can over here. What else is there?

I've installed twice in 3 days. How do I get this working? U1 gives some sort of weird error which flashes on screen when I authorize the computer. it then goes away before I can read. When i remove the computer, it says error got empty results from device list, then it tries to readd my netbook to ubuntu one, and the cycle starts over. What's a guy to do?

Ok,
regarding the setup, it isn't the NoScript ABE issue?

Maybe try:
killall ubuntuone-login ubuntuone-syncdaemon

Login back via MeMenu.

Regarding the outputs, I'd say log a bug to get devs have a look at it.
Quote faq 778:
TESTING THE NEW UBUNTU ONE CLIENT INSTALL
And, finally, to ensure your account is working properly, do the following:

10. Put a small text file in the newly created ~/Ubuntu One/ directory and make sure that syncs correctly, if not, please report a bug by right-clicking on the Ubuntu One client and selecting "Report a Problem"

Afair, the only workaround for the moment is complete reinstall.
Find config files:
find ~ -iname ubuntuone

##Example output
/home/user/.cache/ubuntuone
/home/user/.config/ubuntuone
/home/user/.local/share/ubuntuone

Remove each subfolder /ubuntuone.

Login over: https://one.ubuntu.com/
In case under 'Account' delete recognized computer.

In case remove the key.
applications -> accessories -> encryption keys

Restart Ubuntu.
Restart UbuntuOne.
Login via webbrowser, add computer to your account.

After a while files in /home/user/Ubuntuone should start to sync with account.

ok, i did
fresh install
by-the-book ubuntu one synch which did not work
system updates
reboot
tried again and it did not work
rm -Rf `find ~ -iname ubuntuone` #short version of your instructions above
I logged into the dashboard, clicked accounts, managed to remove my adam-netbook computer
then I clicked the power icon and restart
I then clicked ubuntu>system>ubuntu one
waited for firefox
clicked add computer
waited for ubuntu one preferences
then ubuntu one preferences came up with an error message which flashed too fast to read
It then lost focus and brought me back to firefox

Everything appears to be logged in correctly under ubuntu one preferences

However, under my ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/oauth-login.log I see this

What else can I try?

I created a file in "~/ubuntu one" and typed random data into it. The file is called aaaaawootaaaa

ubuntu one web admin states I have 500 megs of 2 gigs used. Why does it say not enough space for upload?

I have been having what sounds like an identical issue -- some directory structure syncing, no files. After uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting u1 key, playing with u1sdtool ( -q , --start, --connect) I was eventually up to 61MB and stalled. So, some files, but only tiny fraction of the total. No fun. I have gone back down to the 2GB plan, since it seems to only be shooting myself in the foot to attempt to sync more. I can't run bleeding edge on my work systems, so I'll wait for at least a beta of Meerkat, I guess?

I also appear to be having this problem, is there anyway I can assist in debugging this issue.

I can create a folder and in most cases this syncs however no files sync at all.

please see Bug #588038 where a recent answer says it is likely to be
a temporary resources issue and is being fixed within days
